- ESD-approved companies are to follow through with the services at the expatriate center and apply for different levels of passes, which include:

What are the capital requirements for ESD Expatriate Services Division?
ESD sets capital requirements for companies intending to key in to their services. As a company that is applying to register with the ESD, you are required to meet certain paid-up capital requirements to be eligible. Find out more about the requirements below:
- Your company should have not less than RM 250,000 as a 100% local-owned company.
- A company’s capital should not be less than RM 350,000 to register as a joint-venture company.
- A company’s capital should not be less than RM500,000 as a 100% foreign-owned company (note that the foreign equity should be 51% or more).
- A company’s capital should not be less than RM 1 million as a foreign-owned company that offers the service of wholesale and retail trade or other forms of unregulated services.
How long does ESD processing take?
The process flow to get registered with the ESD can take a long time because the Malaysian Immigration Department usually sends out queries and often requests letters of approval; they may also ask for letters of support, and in some cases, letters of no objection are requested from other government agencies.

The processing time is not a standard one, as it varies based on the time it takes them to verify the requests sent out. You should try as much as possible to apply in time.

- A Copy of Local Authorities License: in most cases, Lesen Pihak Berkuasa Tempatan (PBT) may be us (if applicable).
