NOA1 K1 Visa and Sample
NOA1 K1 Visa and Sample
NOA1 is the second step to getting a K1 visa, and it stands for Notice of Action 1 (NOA1). It comes after the USCIS filing. To fill out the USCIS form for the K1 visa application, the U.S. citizen sponsor is expected to submit the K-1 visa petition. The petition is to be sent directly to USCIS with an application fee of $535. After two to three weeks of successful submission, you will be sent a Notice of Action (NOA1), which is to confirm that they have received your USCIS’s petition. There is no further action to take after receiving this. You just have to wait for some time while your application is processed. After about 8â10 months, you will be sent the Notice of Action 2 (NOA2). The essence of the Notice of Action 2 (NOA2) is to inform you about the USCIS’s decision on your NOA1 petition submitted.
If your NOA1 KI visa petition is approved, you can go on with the other steps involved in the K1 visa application, which I have outlined below. If your application was not approved, you can check the available options. If you are sent an RFE (Request for Evidence) prompt, then you must provide the required documentation for approval.

K1 Visa Process after NOA1 and NOA2 Stages
1: The National Visa Center (NVC) Stage
Here, the service center in charge of the petition you have submitted will forward it to NVC, and this is done within two (2) weeks of the petition’s approval. At this stage, you will not receive any notifications. But you can reach out to NVC to confirm that they have received your file, either by calling 603-334-0700 or by sending them an email at NVCINQUIRY@state.gov.
2: NVC sends your K-1 visa petition to the Embassy
When every necessary security check is conducted for your fiancĂ©, the National Visa Center (NVC) sends your approved K-1 visa petition to the U.S. Embassy sitting in your fiancĂ©’s country of residence. It is sent through DHL, and you are not expected to do anything at this step; just sit and wait!
3: The Embassy Sends Your Fiancé a Letter
The U.S. Embassy, upon receipt of your K-1 visa petition, will send your fiancé a letter. Contained in the letter are instructions on how to schedule a compulsory medical examination and a follow-up interview.
4: Your fiancé will have to return some Embassy documents.
The embassy will instruct your fiancé to return some documents with immediate effect, while some documents are required at the interview session.
5:Â Medical Examination as directed by the U.S. Embassy
The U.S. Embassy will instruct your fiancĂ© to conduct a medical examination. There is an associated fee to be paid in her countryâs local currency, and the charge depends on her location.
6: Embassy Interview Stage
Your fiancé is invited for an interview by the U.S. Embassy; questions to confirm her relationship with you may be asked. You are not required to come for the interview, but some countries allow you to appear.
7: A K-1 fiancé visa is granted.
The K-1 fiancĂ© visa badge will be approved on your fiancĂ©’s passport, and it can be collected on the same day or anytime within the following week. For long distances, it will be delivered via the courier service, and she can now go on to buy airline tickets for United States travel.
8: Travel to the United States
From the time of issuance, your fiancĂ© is given six months of validity to use the visa to get into the United States. When she gets to the point of entry (POE), she will have to release the U.S. Embassy documents and packages. You donât need to go with her.
9: Marry your fiancé.
You have to marry your fiancé, and the wedding must be within 90 days of her entry into the U.S. If you fail to do the wedding within the stipulated period, your fiancé will have to exit the U.S.
