Program Description

The Virginia College Affordability Network (VCAN) Scholarship Program is an initiative to grant local students access to college. The scholarship is specifically for students who have limited financial resources to receive a quality education. The VCAN scholarship to be hosted by NSU is dedicated to building and maintaining the mission of the National College Access Network, which is:

  • To buildcommunities
  • Strengthencommunities  and
  • To empower these communities

So they can have access to college. The program is open to underrepresented groups in post-secondary education.

Who is eligible for the VCAN Scholarship?

The VCAN scholarship is providing support to up to 500 VSU scholars who are within the Tri-Cities and Greater Richmond-Petersburg regions, and up to 275 newly recruited candidates are awarded financial aid support on an annual basis. All you need to do is maintain a cumulative GPA of not less than 2.5 and some other eligibility levels to maintain your scholarship, and the funding will keep on renewing until you get to your senior level. Scholars who got below the GPA requirements will be sent a one-semester warning status, and the warning is to get yourself back on track to avoid losing it.
